If you haven’t seen the latest thing in the apple world at your grocery store yet, please allow me to introduce you. SweeTango is a premium apple with crisp citrus notes and a touch of spice complemented by a sweet honey finish. I fell in love with it at the first bite and am still enjoying them every day.
Apple breeders used natural methods to create the SweeTango variety, which is a cross between the Honeycrisp (my long time favorite!) and Zestar varieties. It’s a managed variety, which means that a cooperative of dedicated growers take care of SweeTango to make sure it meets the highest quality standards. SweeTango has a “short and sweet” season of availability and can be found right now in the Atlanta area at Whole Foods, Kroger, Wal-Mart, Fresh Market, and Public groceries along with the DeKalb Farmers’ Market.
If you saw my post last week with a recipe for Pork Chops with SweeTango Apple Puree, you might have been wondering how you could get your hands on some of these delicious new apples. Well, I have just the opportunity for you…a SweeTango giveaway!
The people who grow, ship, and care for SweeTango apples are providing an opportunity for one reader to win a prize package that includes a shipment of SweeTango apples along with a SweeTango “swag bag” which includes a SweeTango t-shirt, reusable tote bag, and apple season calendar.
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post telling how you’d use your SweeTango apples if you won. Pies, cakes, applesauce…share your favorite way to enjoy apples!
