My low and slow method for cooking Old Fashioned Southern Style Green Beans. The beautiful, smoky ham hock and green beans will take you straight to the country no matter where you live!

Just 3 Simple Ingredients!

Make the Broth


Cook the ham hocks (or bacon or smoked turkey) with water to make a flavorful broth.

Prep the Green Beans


Remove the "tips and tails" of the beans and cut into 2-inch pieces.

Add Green Beans


Add the prepared green beans to the broth.

Shred the Ham Hock


Shred the meat from the ham hocks and add it back into the cooked green beans.



Serve as a side dish to almost any meal. Great with fried chicken!
