1/4cupchunky salsamild, medium, or hot
4ouncesCheddar cheeseshredded
4hamburger bunsor sandwich rolls

Toppings as desired: sour cream, guacamole, jalapenos, lettuce
Instructions
Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray (for easier cleanup, use a parchment liner)
In a large mixing bowl, lightly combine the ground beef, taco seasoning mix, salsa, and shredded cheese until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Form each portion into a patty.
Preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees F.
Place the hamburger patties into the basket and set the timer for 6 minutes. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 155-160 degrees F (for well done).
Assemble the burgers with a bun and choice of toppings.
Notes
Ingredient Notes:
Ground Beef (I always recommend 80-20 (or ground chuck) for burgers. The higher fat percentage keeps the burgers from drying out and just tastes better. You can substitute turkey, chicken, venison, or bison if you prefer but you'll need to add about 2 tablespoons of oil to your burger mixture with those lower fat proteins.)
Taco Seasoning (Use mild or spicy according to your preference.)
Cheddar Cheese (Grate the cheese by hand from a block for best results. Packaged, shredded cheese won't be as moist and won't incorporate into the mixture as well.)
Tips:
Substitute Monterey jack or pepper jack cheese for the Cheddar.
Add all your favorite taco toppings (cheese, salsa, pico de gallo, pickled jalapenos, cilantro, avocado).
For a lower-carb option, use corn tortillas or lettuce in place of the bun.
If you’re using a high-fat content beef (at least 20%), it’s not necessary to spray the patties with oil before or during cooking. But it won’t hurt anything if you do.
How to Store and ReheatLeftovers may be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to three months. To reheat, place refrigerated (or defrosted) burgers in the air fryer again for about 5 minutes.
