Hot Curried Georgia Peaches is a different spin on an old southern recipe for curried fruit that makes an appearance on many holiday tables throughout the south.

I’ve changed it up a bit to use only peaches and instead of serving it as a side dish, I’ve moved it to the dessert course and am serving it with butter pecan ice cream and pound cake. It’s a fabulous combination that I hope you’ll try!

How to Make Hot Curried Georgia Peaches

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Peaches and pecans in a baking dish.

Place the frozen peach slices and pecans in a 9×13 baking dish.

Butter and sugar in a saucepan.

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Remove the pan from the heat, add the remaining ingredients and stir until combined.

Sugar and butter added to baking dish.

Sprinkle over the peaches and pecans.

Peach and pecan mixture after baking for one hour.

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring gently every 10-15 minutes.

For each serving, place a slice of pound cake on the plate or in a bowl. Top with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream and hot curried peaches.

This is the absolute quintessential southern dish and I cannot wait to try it. I love the use of savory seasonings in sweet desserts and adding curry to peaches is sheer brilliance!

    1. Lana Stuart says:

Why thank you, Jane. Curry powder is often included in southern recipes. It’s a legacy from the days when ships sailing the spice route came into the ports in Savannah and Charleston.

  13. You know, we have been cooking a variation on this baked fruit since we were old enough to reach the countertops. Folks are sometimes a bit “stand-off” when they first hear “curried.” But it is my impression that when they taste the dish and find out that the spice is really just to add depth and warmth, they really enjoy it. I know I do!

Thank you, Liz. It is a topping but I could just eat it right by itself!
